REDUCING ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL VULNERABILITY
This theme addresses two aspects: one is the economic aspect which uses skill building and vocational guidance as tools to augment income and earning potential. The other is the social aspect which involves uplifting the community through innovative models that lead to community development and empowerment.
INCREASING THE AWARENESS OF RELEVANT GOVERNMENT SCHEMES
Employment needs, food accessibility, indebtedness and migration continue to be issues of paramount importance in rural areas. Though the government has addressed these concerns through its developmental schemes, the same do not seem to reach or effectively benefit the rural population. There is an increased need, therefore, for generating awareness about these schemes and creating a fair system where communities are themselves able to implement it for their own benefit.
ENABLING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
In "Enabling Entrepreneurship", the focus is on augmenting rural income through the use of improved agricultural techniques, animal husbandry or other sustainable techniques. There is limited support given for seed capital for new projects especially in geographically difficult areas. Such innovative projects when implemented effectively can bring about a major change and impact in the life of a larger population.
